Maybe
if I offer the cello gods my first born, they will take pity on my poor, failing phalanges and bestow upon them the ability to finally understand the machinations of the devil-composer Haydn…
Not that I plan to have children
but they don’t need to know that…
I hate those Hayden concerti.
The first one, musically, is interesting enough as a piece of music.
But the second one… it’s not only mind numbingly difficult, but it’s also not a very great piece of music. It’s so… boring!
I just hate Haydn as an entity…. (well, maybe not really). I have to learn the damned, contemptible first concerto on top of the equally oppressive Divertimento that was transcribed by the infamous Piatagorski. The final allegro section is like the two of them got together and musically flicked off the next 18 generations of cellists!
